Our Pre-K Curriculum consists of age-appropriate literacy, math, and science concepts. We focus on a letter of the alphabet every week. We learn the name, sound, and even the proper way to write the letters. We have a lot of fun doing activities, experiments, and crafts that help us learn more about weekly themes, as well as, the weekly letter. In addition to whole group learning, we engage in small teacher-directed stations. We are committed to helping the children adjust to a structured environment, balancing both leaning and fun. We also help prepare them for the very important transition to Kindergarten. Our day is full of directed center time learning and quiet time activities including free play.
I love watching my students grow emotionally and academically and I believe in establishing good relationships with the parents. This is my 10th year teaching pre-kindergarten. I earned my bachelors degree in Elementary Education with a kindergarten endorsement from Franklin College. In my classroom we establish an efficient routine, helping children become independent learners, with ongoing communication with parents.

I enjoy working with young children and helping to nurture that love of learning. To see them get so excited when they learn and experience new things. I graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education and a minor in special education. I have worked with Johnson County Special Services and have been teaching at Honey Grove since they opened in 2001. In my classroom I want every child to feel safe and enjoy their day of learning. My goal is to prepare each child so they will be ready for kindergarten.
